The month of October and the Book of the Dead
As a community of Catholic Learners, we here at St. Patrick School, are celebrating this annual time of remembering with a Book of the Dead Shrine.
The children have been invited to visit the Book, with their classes. The Faculty and Staff are also participating. Everyone is invted to write in the name/s of those, who are special to them and their family, that have gone before us and are now at home with God.
These folks, who we remember, become the Saints and Souls who are remembered on November 1 (All Saint's Day) and November 2 (All Soul's Day). We also are able to put Halloween (All Hallow's Eve) in context with our Holy Day of All Saints.
On November 1, 2007, we will celebrate the Holy Day of All Saints with a School Mass at 8:30 a.m. It will be celebrated by Father George Dyer. Our Book of the Dead will be a part of our opening procession and the environment for this special Mass. All families are invited and encouraged to attend this Mass.
Pictures of our shrine are included on this webpage so that Parents can see what the shrine looks like. Ask your child to explain what everything is and how they felt about this experience.
