Sixth Grade News

The sixth graders are now starting their unit on Ancient Greece.  They have already learned how the geography affected the development of civilization, and now they will learn about those civilizations.

The students were briefly taught how to write a bibliography today in class.  If they are still unsure, there is a link from Ms. Smith's website.  If they are still unsure after checking their website, have them talk to me.

The students have now received the requirements for their god/goddess essay.  This essay is due Thursday May 15.  Clich here for an additional copy of the requirements.

Seventh Grade News

The Seventh Grade is just starting Chapter 15.  No major projects are planned as we move through to the Civil War.

Eighth Grade News

Constutition focus for this week will be memorizing the Bill of Rights, as well as additional amendments.  The quiz this week will cover only the Bill of Rights.

The Eighth Graders have officially begun their preparation for the U.S. and Illinois Constitution tests.  All work for the Constitution will be done in their bright blue workbooks.  I strongly recommend that these books come home every night. In these books you will find highlighting of the important information, and questions to check for understanding.  These highlights and questions will be put together to make up a weekly quiz.  These quizzes may be combined to form part of the actual Constitution Test.  Many students may also find it helpful to record this information on flashcards.  I also recommend having parents or siblings quiz students on the material covered so far.  Though this test is extremely important, the students will be very well prepared.  If you have any questions regarding this test, please contact me. The tentative date for the U.S. Constitution Test is Thursday May 22.

I am happy to report that I received all 70 research papers on time.  It will take me several weeks to grade all of the papers.  Stay patient, I'll get them back as soon as possible.
