Our classroom won the contest for selling the highest percentage of tickets for the big raffle! We won a pizza lunch and a casual dress day. This will happen on Wednesday June 4th. A letter will be coming home with more details. The children are very excited! Thank you for supporting our school!!!!

Friday May 30th is "Get up and move" day. We did this earlier in the year and the children really liked it. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon everyone in the school will stop what they are doing and dance to music provided over the P. A. system.

Friday May 30th is also the 2nd grade Hop-a-t hon Day for Muscular Dystrophy. More information on this event is on the web page.

Looking ahead...we will celebrate "God Bless America" Day on Friday June 6th. More information on this event on our web page.

Please increase practice time for writing address, phone number, and birth date if your child is still unable to do this. Also increase +/- fact practice if your child is still learning the facts. It is expected that 2nd graders will have mastered the facts to 18. Consider practicing the facts during the summer so your child will feel confident beginning 3rd grade math.

Spring weather clothing

Please be sure your child is prepared for the variable Spring weather we experience in northeastern Illinois. Layers are always a good idea. Be sure your child has a hat and gloves every day. They don't have to wear them but it they are sure nice to have when the weather turns unexpectedly cold.

Sweatshirts

Please be sure to send a uniform sweatshirt with your child everyday. The temperature in the building is very variable. A sweatshirt is often most welcome.

Addresses

Each week the children are asked to write part of their personal information on their spelling test paper. During the 1st quarter the children wrote their telephone numbers. 2nd quarter they wrote their telephone number and the number of the house and the name of the street. During this next quarter the children will continue to write this information but we will add city,state, and zip code as well as birth date. During the 4th quarter the children will be expected to write all the information. Please help your child learn these pieces of information.

Reading Calendars

May reading and homework calendars will come home in Friday folders. Please let me know if you did not receive them. I will send another. Reading calendars should come to school on Friday along with library books.
